These days it feels like the options and information surrounding training are both infinite and at times overwhelming, so you may ask, why choose private? Quite simply, the benefits of a private professional trainer sets the foundation for a stronger bond between you and your dog. In home visits are ideal for initially non-friendly pups, allowing them to focus in the comfort of their dominant environment, and offering owners peace of mind which might otherwise be dangerous in new or multi-dog settings. If your pooch has specific concerns, one on one sessions offer unparalleled attention producing long lasting results, which over time saves owners a fortune as opposed to putting bandaids on the behavior. For owners who want to learn their dogs from soul to snout, private training brings a level of confidence and education that benefits everyone involved, resulting in bonds built beyond compare.
Sally is a very professional and dedicated dog trainer. She has been (and still is) our dog trainer since May of 2017. Our rescue puppy Sandi was quite a handful and somewhat aggressive especially with our three small children. Sandi would be overly playful and nip at the kids and their toys. After this past year working with Sally, Sandi is a very obiedent and a much calmer dog, a complete change. More than we ever expected! Sally works with and involves the whole family and truly knows how to bring out the best in dogs!

Sally first came to us in February 2018, at the recommendation of our long-time veterinarian. We had a 6 month old Golden Retriever with a very exuberant personality who loved to jump and was very mouthy. We also had a 2 ½ year old Golden Retriever who was exhibiting the same, though less forceful, behavior. These are our 3rd and 4th Goldens, and I had done years of training with our other dogs, so I knew with these two what I was seeing needed some professional help! I found myself very stressed about the dogs behavior, and not able to really ever relax with them for worry over what may happen. We did have another trainer come to the house to work with the 2 ½ year old, and while her behavior did improve, it did not completely change. When the next puppy came along, we were looking for other resources, and that is where Sally came in. My first time speaking with her to set up an appt. she spent close to 45 minutes listening and trying to get a feel for what was going on so she could come to the house prepared to jump right in to working on these behaviors. After our first session, there were not enough great things I can say – she really was very interested in what we were interested in accomplishing, and was very honest and practical about how we needed to get there. One of my favorite things about Sally is the fact that she realizes that we wanted our dogs to be part of our family, not relegated to a crate somewhere…and that is the goal we have worked towards. She has spent individual time with my children, and has gone out of her way to get to know the different personalities of each of our dogs and tailor her training approach accordingly. The change in their behavior is absolutely amazing! The both have retained their sweet personalities, yet they have focus and are more eager than ever to please. Rather than stressing out when we have guests, I now look forward to showing off the advances they have made in training. I feel truly blessed that we have crossed paths with Sally…she has allowed me and my family to truly enjoy our dogs!

We adopted our mixed-breed dog Riley from Father John's Animal House at seven months old, after Riley's previous owner put her up for adoption due to a family illness. Riley is very smart, friendly and lovable, but was not responsive to our commands, jumped when greeting people, and had a habit of chasing cars leaving our property. We asked Sally to assist us in addressing these specific behaviors, and to provide us with strategies for further training. Sally met with Riley once per week over an approximately six-week period. She immediately established a rapport with Riley who was very responsive to her instructions. Through positive reinforcements Sally was able to improve Riley's behavior making her more generally obedient while correcting the undesirable behaviors. One of the most effective strategies that we implemented during the training is worth mentioning. Specifically, Sally worked with us to establish a special call to which Riley consistently responds when outside. Consequently, we are able to allow Riley considerable freedom to run, with the confidence that she will return when summoned. Sally's knowledge of dogs and training techniques were evident, and her instruction was instrumental in making Riley's adoption a success. We are most grateful!

Sally was recommended to us by a close family friend and we could not be more happy with having had her as our trainer. She was extremely knowledgeable and loving to our sweet boy Remy. She taught the basics when he was a puppy and was so helpful with walking Remy on a loose leash. She also taught us how to do a Recall for Remy which has given us the peace of mind in knowing that he will always come back if he is wandering off or if he is not listening. Sally’s bond to Remy is what helps keep us in touch with her even today. We love to update Sally on how Remy is doing, and we will always have her to thank. Remy is an Australian Shepherd so there have been many trying times to meet his needs, but Sally has helped reassure us that our hard work will come a long way and to push ourselves to apply training skills any time we get the chance. We still utilize the training skills Sally has taught us since the beginning, and with time and patience it has been so rewarding seeing Remy’s progress over time. I would highly recommend Sally to anyone in need of a dog trainer, she’s such a good person at heart and will treat your dog like her own.

Sally has been (and continues to be) a great help to me in terms of dealing with aggression issues with my two large rescue dogs. I was really at my wit's end with my two beloved dogs after they began fighting in the house in January of 2018. I had never encountered this type of behavior before and was terrified of them hurting each other after several trips to the emergency vet in the middle of the night. Sally came out and very patiently assessed the situation and began working with the dogs and me every week over the course of several months. Her style is warm and caring, and the two dogs responded very well. She helped me regain my sense of confidence and proved to be a great help as I struggled to achieve the right combination of training and manage in order to deal with the situation. Sally's help was really invaluable. Sally is prompt, reliable, honest, and caring in addition to being very reasonable and flexible. She is a wonderful trainer and quite knowledgeable with respect to the various situations that can lead to aggression between dogs and how to reduce the stress in the environment for everyone concerned. You strongly owe it to yourself self and the canine friends entrusted to your care to have Sally come for a visit when the issue is training or aggression. I recommend her enthusiastically.

We can’t thank Sally enough for the professional training she gave to our Weimaraner Juneau. Sally began working with Juneau when he was a young puppy, about 4 months old. From the first time she met him she was able to identify his personality and plan the training to fit his needs. Sitting, laying, staying – all the basic commands were learned with such ease. Counter surfing? No more! We are a family of four (2 children) and for Sally to design a training that we all could use and have Juneau respond appropriately was not an easy task. But each week Sally came prepared, had a goal in mind, and Juneau responded amazingly well. She would leave each of us with homework and commands to practice and it would be reinforced at the following visit. Fast forward a year later and Juneau remains a very well-behaved, obedient dog! Without hesitations, we would highly recommend Sally to work with your dog – she is the best!!
